San Diego

Where to Stay

There are hundreds of options for staying in San Diego. There are hotels, motels, bed and breakfasts, casinos, resorts, and vacation rentals.

We tried to pick two options to meet different budget needs, while also thinking of easy access to freeways and closeness to our venue. You can choose either of these two hotels or feel free to do your own search if you have different needs.

If enough people pick one or both of these hotels, we will try to provide a free shuttle to our venue and back, so you won't have to worry about driving late at night on a curvy and unfamiliar mountain road.

After you make your reservations, please email us at hotels@wadeandemese.com or include a note on your RSVP to let us know which hotel you picked so we can keep track of the numbers and arrange transportation if needed.

Option 1: Hilton Bayfront San Diego

San Diego Hilton Bayfront - Room

San Diego Hilton Bayfront - Outside

This Hilton is located near downtown, right next to the convention center and the bay. It's walking distance to the historic Gaslamp District and Seaport Village with views of the city and the bay. The trolley in front of the hotel can also take you to Old Town or to the Tijuana border crossing.

Price: With AAA, the nightly rate is $149, without AAA $159 for the weekend of September 2nd. Please note, they do charge extra for both parking and wifi.

Option 2: Super 8 La Mesa

La Mesa Super 8 - Room

La Mesa Super 8 - Outside

This is a recently renovated and well-reviewed motel located in La Mesa, only 15 miles from our venue.

We personally checked the rooms to make sure they were clean. They're nicely equipped with flat-screen TVs, granite vanities, mini-fridge, microwave, and a personal coffee maker.

There's free parking and free wifi. There's also a free contentinental breakfast served in the tiny check-in/lobby area. However, there's no onsite restaurant, no pool, and no common area to hang out.

While closer to our venue, this hotel is probably not touristy or picturesque. It's near our local community college and the neighborhood may have seen some better days, but if you just want a comfortable place to rest at night, it will do the job.

Within walking distance there's plenty of food options including a nice pizza place, a Jack in the Box, a Wienerschnitzel, a southern diner, and of course a taco shop.

Price: If you book three nights, 8/31 to 9/3, the nightly rate is $66 with a 20% discount. Without the 20% discount, the nightly rate is $83.
